Middle & High School – Strategies for Success
Volume 1 Issue 1
| EDIFY | STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS |
|---|---|
| Edification encompasses teaching, exhortation, and living righteously, aiming for the overall health of our valley’s families, especially their children. | News: Starting this fall 2026, we are excited to announce Edify Santa Ynez Valley Co-Op is planning to meet in one location and offer more subjects instructed by amazing, experienced, godly teachers! This is only the beginning of a dream to help parents educate their children in an environment that uplifts their souls and directs their minds and hearts to Christ. See below for questions and answers. |
| “Therefore…edify one another, just as you also are doing.” 1 Thes. 5:11 NKJV “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6 NKJV | Goal: We aim to provide an affordable, edifying middle and high school setting that offers the Santa Ynez Valley children a Christian environment in which to learn curriculum and trades in excellence, with God as the center. Mission: Our mission is to provide a godly challenged education that instructs our children in the way of the Lord. We want this to be more than a safe place for parents to send their children, more than papers turned in completed and checks on the checklist of things to accomplish for graduation. Yes, our goals include providing the state-required basics, but at a challenged level with enough help and encouragement to succeed. PLUS, we want to provide our valley’s children ample opportunities to know God and themselves at a deeper level through exploration and hands-on opportunities. Our children will learn to edify and serve others throughout their lives and attain the knowledge and confidence to become productive godly adults who contribute to the success of their society. |
— To help our children live their God-given, individual purpose. —
Q & A regarding Strategies for success
Q: What courses will be offered?
A: In phase 1, our plan is to offer Bible, Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, PE, Music, Art and opportunities to learn trades from local professionals. In phase 2, we plan to offer Foreign Language(s) as well as more opportunities to learn trades from local professionals. These may be as simple as an introductory class/field trip, or an opportunity for an unpaid apprenticeship. In phase 3, we hope to offer team sports.
Q: Will the courses offered prepare my child for success in college and beyond?
A: Yes, thorough research has been done to ensure the courses and hands-on opportunities offered are above standard to provide our children with opportunities for excellence.
Q: What credentials will the instructors have?
A: Our chosen instructors have lengthy credentials with either a history of teaching at the high school and/or college level or a Masters/PhD level degree.
Q: Will there be opportunities for our children to meet with the instructors or a tutor for extra help with a subject?
A: Yes, phase 1 does include a plan for extra time to work with an instructor or tutor on any offered subject. See Home Room on the Calendar.
Q: Is there a membership fee/tuition required?
A: Yes, a general membership fee will be required. The amount is TBD. Since this is a co-op not a private school, there will not be a “tuition” requirement. Additional fees will be based on courses/trades/field trips selected, if a PE class is offered and attended, and “Home Room” (tutoring hours) requested.
Q: What days and hours will the students be required to be “in class”?
A: As a co-op, there is no requirement. However, the opportunity to have classroom style instruction for the subjects mentioned will be offered and regular attendance will help ensure the students’ success. With the application, a parent can choose 1 or more subjects or all subjects plus “Home Room” for extra study time with a tutor or instructor. Trade classes and field trip opportunities can be attended based on interest. See the “calendar” for more information.
Q: What information will further issues provide?
A: Yes, this is only the beginning of a dream to help parents educate their children in an environment that uplifts their soul and directs their minds and hearts to Christ.
